Stallion Index

There are over 25 registered stallions listed in this Stallion Index. The Index is divided into two sections for ease of comparison.

If you are interested in comparing the numbers, choose the spreadsheet format that allows easy comparison of height, weight, collar size, etc.

If you would like to see photos of the horses and read owners' comments, choose the photo link.

All of these stallions have their blood-type on record with the ASHA unless otherwise noted. All stallions must be DNA tested in order for new foals to be registered. For more on DNA, see below.

Measurements

About the measurements:

A)  Height: Place the horse on solid, level ground making sure that he is standing squarely with head up. Measure from the top of teh wither straight down to the ground. At the withers, feel for the highest point that does not move when the horses' head is raised and lowered.

B)  Girth: Using a cloth tape or string, measure the crcumference of the body right behind the front legs. Pull the tape snug. Be sure to use a tape or string that does not stretch!

C)  Length: Measure in a straight line from the forward point of the chest to the rearmost point of the hip. Do NOT curve the tape around the body.

D) cannon bone: Measure the circumference of teh canon bone midway between the knee and fetlock. Pull tape snug.

E) Collar size: Following the slope of the shoulder, measure from the top of the neck to the bottom of the neck in a straight line (do not follow the curve of the body). Make sure to snug up on the loose skin under neck for most accurate measurement. *Note - stallions with thicker necks may actually wear a slightly bigger collar which stretches out and around the thick neck causing the collar to measure shorter than it actually is. Collars are measured in a straight line from the inside rim at top to inside rim at the bottom.

Many of these stallions are not standing at stud, but are used privately. Some, however, are available for outside mares. Please contact the owner or check the stallion advertisement section of this web site.

Please note that English registration numbers begin with the letter "E", followed by the gender "S" for Stallion, "M" for mare, and their number.

As of January 1, 2003, all horses submitted for registration with the ASHA must be DNA tested and parentage verified before they will be eligible for registration. In order to perform the parentage verification:
A. All sires of horses submitted for registration must be DNA tested.
B. All dams of horses submitted for registration must be DNA tested.
